The mission of the church is to build Christians who worship God, walk in love, and witness to the world (Matthew 28:19,20). We do this best by following the biblical method of discipleship. The natural response of spirit-filled lives impelled by Scripture is devotion to God, our worship, and walk, and our witness.
IN OUR WORSHIP – we worship God passionately as the Holy Spirit combines head and heart in fresh expressions of devotion (Romans 12:1). We believe that God is most glorified when we are most pleased in Him. Therefore, we cultivate a sense of awe and enjoyment of God in our public worship services and our private lives.
IN OUR WALK – we love one another in Christ-centered relationships that reflect a commitment to true Christian maturity and community (John 13:35). We believe that Christians are indissolubly linked by our common commitment to Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are drawn to the body of Christ as the means of encouragement, growth, and accountability.
IN OUR WITNESS – we proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ for the joy of all people (Matthew 28:19-20). We believe that a healthy body bears much fruit. Therefore, we strive to know Him and make Him known at every opportunity open to us, individually and corporately, both here and around the world.
Our vision is to be a teaching church, where every ministry and member is committed to the proclamation and application of the Word of God so that others may come to know Him and live to the glory of God. Thus, we will preach and teach the Word of God at every opportunity in every possible way. This is the primary method of disciple-making by which we accomplish our mission. A church centered on the Word of God will not fall for the foolish fads of modern man. All other efforts are like grass that withers and dies, but "the Word of the Lord abides forever."
At The Cross Baptist Church the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 is a great discription of our basic beliefs, Baptist Faith and Message 2000. God’s Word is the foundation for all we believe and seek to do. We are Committed to the centrality of the Gospel, the inerrancy of the Bible, and the text driven preaching of His Word. We apologize neither for being conservative nor for being Baptist.
The church plant is currenlty led by Lewis Richerson, who will serve as pastor, Chris Johnson, and Thomas White. We are a new church plant for Fort Worth in Southwest Fort Worth. God has called us to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our neighbors in Southwest Fort Worth, in Texas, in the United States, and around the world. To fulfill this mission The Cross Baptist Church is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and The North Texas Baptist Area Association.
It is our desire to be Great Commission Christians. Therefore, we will be intentional in our proclamation of the Gospel. Weekly, we will engage our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the preaching of His Word, door to door evangelism, Biblical counseling, block parties, and other opportunties as they present themselves. We will also be missional not only in giving but in doing. We have a four year plan for missions that will carry us from Forth Worth to the ends of the earth. The 1st year we will be on mission in Fort Worth. The 2nd year we will be on mission in Texas. The 3rd year we will be on mission in the United States and the 4th year we will be on mission in a foreign country.
